Subaru Loves Pets | Proctor Subaru Pet Event | Leon County Humane Society

 

We partner with Leon County Humane Society to help homeless animals find their "furever" home. At Proctor Subaru, we believe all pets deserve a loving home. The ASPCA® reports nearly 6.3 million companion animals enter shelters nationwide every year, where many live day after day without the love of a family or a home.

For Subaru Loves Pets® month this October, Proctor Subaru will join the Subaru long-standing commitment to help support shelter dogs – especially those with special needs that we lovingly call the “Underdogs” – by donating $100 to Leon County Humane Society for every pet adopted throughout the month*. Volunteers and foster families from the Leon County Humane Society will have dogs looking to match with their future families.

Proctor Subaru has hosted adoption events for nearly 10 years helping place over 150 dogs with loving families through our partnership with the Leon County Humane Society. On October 22nd we celebrate the 6th annual National Make A Dog’s Day, a day created by Subaru to encourage all dog lovers to do something special for their dog. This year, we are asking people to consider welcoming an Underdog into their home and their hearts, as a life-changing way to #MakeADogsDay.

*Subaru retailers will donate $100 for every pet adopted from partner shelters from October 1, 2025 through October 31, 2025 up to $3,100 per retailer.

*Public Donations of unopened cat & dog food, unopened litter, and gently used kitten toys will also be accepted by LCHS from attendees. 

Dog Adoption Package:

• Pre-adoption physical examination conducted by a licensed veterinarian
• Negative heartworm test OR covered heartworm treatment
• Spay/Neuter Surgery
• Vaccinations for distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus, and parainfluenza
• Rabies Vaccination
• Bordetella (kennel cough) vaccine
• Treatment for internal parasites
• Microchip with free registration
• Flea Treatment
• Behavior advice and materials always available

Follow the below steps for an easy and pawsitively seamless adoption:

• Browse the pets available for adoption here.
• Application paperwork will be available on site, but feel free to get a head start by printing, completing, and bringing to the event!
• If you have pets in your family already, bring their current medical and vaccination records to help expedite the process.
• If you rent your home, bring proof of authorization to have animals in your home (lease or rental agreement) to help expedite the process.
