Performance

Powering the 2019 Subaru Ascent is a brand-new 2.4-liter turbocharged Subaru Boxer® engine that provides 260 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque and is glued to a continuously variable transmission. Like other Subaru vehicles, it comes with a standard all-wheel drivetrain, as well as X-MODE® technology for further strengthening its capability to maintain tire grip on the road. Maximum towing capability is measured at 5,000 lbs., which makes the Ascent the greatest hauler in Subaru’s history.

Interior and Features

Although classified as a midsize SUV, the 2019 Subaru Ascent can accommodate up to eight people with its three rows of seats and 153.5 cubic feet of passenger volume. However, you can swap the second-row bench-style seat with a pair of captain’s chairs on the Premium trim to reduce maximum occupancy to seven. Plus, those chairs are standard on the Touring. Standard cargo space is measured at 19.6 cubic feet, and there’s also underfloor storage. Standard comfort and convenience features on the Subaru Ascent include three-zone automatic climate control, Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ for smartphone-based control, SiriusXM® All Access Radio service, and the Subaru Starlink™ multimedia system for infotainment. If you choose the Limited, Subaru will add keyless access, push-button engine ignition, and leather upholstery. And with the top-level Touring, the Ascent is greatly overhauled with additions and enhancements like front-seat heating and ventilating ability, a panoramic power moonroof, Java Brown leather upholstery, 8-inch touchscreen navigation, and a 14-speaker 792-watt Harman Kardon® premium audio system.

In addition to an airbag system, the 2019 Subaru Ascent comes with safety features like electronic stability control, four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, traction control, hill descent control, and EyeSight® driver assistance technology (which combines components such as adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist and sway warning, and pre-collision braking and throttle management). Worthy of note: The Ascent marks the first time in Subaru’s history where EyeSight® is standard. The Premium trim is upgraded with blind-spot detection and rear cross-traffic alert, as well as the Subaru Starlink™ Safety and Security package (which includes functions like automatic collision notification, SOS emergency assistance, roadside assistance, remote lock/unlock, stolen vehicle locator, and security alarm notifications). And if you get the Limited or Touring, Subaru will add reverse automatic braking and LED steering responsive headlights.
